Alex Oey Photography was officially started in 2007 to serve Southwest Minnesota and the surrounding area with professional, quality photography, but it started much before that.
In 1999 I took a Black & White Photography course at Southwest Minnesota State University from renown photographer Robert Ridley and I was hooked. I loved how you could capture not only what you expected to see, but also things that might otherwise be missed. I continued to shoot, but my photography career got its real start at the Marshall Independent, where I spent 5 years as a sports and news reporter and photographer.
Family and friends began asking me to shoot their weddings and soon I was photographing weddings, seniors, and families on a regular basis. My background as a journalist allows me to capture the fleeting moments as only a true journalist can, and my instruction in photography lets me see the images you want.
